Smart Citation Management

Organize your research library with AI-powered citation management. Bi-directional Zotero sync, collections, and instant BibTeX export — all connected to your analysis workflow.

PapersFlow combines paper organization with bi-directional Zotero sync, so your library stays organized and connected to your analysis and writing workflow.

You have 400 papers in Zotero, half of them unread, with tags you created two years ago that no longer make sense. Some papers belong to your thesis, some to a side collaboration, and some you saved 'just in case.' When you start writing, you spend 20 minutes hunting for that one paper about transfer learning in medical imaging that you know you saved somewhere. Meanwhile your collaborator emails you a shared Zotero group library with 200 more papers. Managing references should not be harder than doing the research itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Zotero sync work technically?
PapersFlow uses the Zotero Web API to sync your library. When you connect your account, it performs an initial full import, then checks for changes every few minutes. Syncs are incremental, so only changed items are transferred. You can also trigger a manual sync at any time from the settings panel.
What import formats are supported besides Zotero?
You can import via BibTeX (.bib), RIS (.ris), DOI (paste a list), or CSV with column mapping. PapersFlow also accepts Mendeley XML exports and EndNote XML. For each format, PapersFlow maps fields to its internal schema and flags any records with missing critical metadata like year or title.
Can my team share a library and collaborate on tagging?
Yes. PapersFlow supports shared project libraries where multiple team members can add papers, suggest tags, and create collections. Each member's contributions are tracked, and tag suggestions reflect the team's collective patterns rather than any single user's preferences.
Does PapersFlow support annotations and highlights from PDFs?
PapersFlow imports annotations and highlights from PDFs when they are present in the file's annotation layer (as created by Zotero's built-in PDF reader, Adobe Acrobat, or similar tools). These annotations are searchable and can be included in exports alongside your other notes.
