1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using PapersFlow ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and PAPERSFLOW SAS. Please read them carefully before using our platform.

2. Account Registration
To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. When registering, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
- Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.
3. Description of Service
PapersFlow is a research platform that provides:
- Paper library management with PDF storage, organization, and collections
- Paper analysis, summarization, chat assistant, and writing features
- Deep Research with multi-agent workflows for comprehensive literature reviews
- Collaborative research project workspaces with real-time editing
- LaTeX editor with compilation, import from Overleaf, and assisted error fixing
- Integration with external services including Zotero, Notion, and OpenAlex
- Community for sharing and discovering research collections
- Custom workflow automation for research tasks
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.
4. Subscription and Payment Terms
4.1 Subscription Plans
PapersFlow offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions provide access to additional features and increased usage limits as described on our pricing page.
4.2 Billing
- Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis
- All fees are quoted and charged in USD unless otherwise specified
- Payment is processed securely through our payment provider (Polar)
- You authorize us to charge your payment method for all applicable fees
4.3 EU Right of Withdrawal
If you are an EU consumer, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from certain purchases within 14 days, subject to applicable exceptions for digital content and digital services. To exercise any applicable withdrawal right, contact us at developer@papersflow.ai with your request.
If you request immediate access to paid digital services during the withdrawal period, we may ask you to expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge the effect this may have on your withdrawal rights to the extent permitted by applicable law. Where such consent or acknowledgement is legally required, we will present it during checkout or activation.
4.4 Refunds
Beyond the 14-day EU withdrawal period:
- Monthly subscriptions: No refunds for partial months
- Annual subscriptions: Pro-rata refunds may be provided at our discretion within 30 days of purchase

4.5 Price Changes
We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' advance notice. Price changes will apply to the next billing cycle after the notice period. You may cancel your subscription before the new price takes effect.
5. User Content and Intellectual Property
5.1 Your Content
You retain full ownership of all content you upload, create, or store on PapersFlow, including research papers, notes, projects, and other materials ("User Content"). We do not claim any ownership rights over your User Content.
5.2 License to PapersFlow
By using the Service, you grant PapersFlow a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Store, process, and display your User Content to provide the Service
- Create backups of your content for data protection purposes
- Process your content through AI services to provide requested features
This license terminates when you delete your content or close your account.
5.3 Responsibility for Content
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and use any content, including proper licenses for copyrighted materials. You agree not to upload content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights.
5.4 PapersFlow Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, features, and documentation, is owned by PAPERSFLOW SAS and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our express permission.
6. AI-Generated Content
PapersFlow uses artificial intelligence to provide various features. Regarding AI-generated content:
- No Guarantee of Accuracy: AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI output.
- User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and validating any AI-generated content before use, publication, or reliance.
- Not Professional Advice: AI outputs do not constitute professional, legal, medical, financial, or academic advice. Consult qualified professionals for such matters.
- Academic Integrity: You are responsible for ensuring that your use of AI-generated content complies with applicable academic integrity policies and ethical guidelines.
7. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
- Upload or distribute malicious software, viruses, or harmful code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
- Circumvent any security measures or access restrictions
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
- Abuse, harass, or harm other users
- Upload illegal content, including content that infringes copyrights
- Use the Service for spam, phishing, or fraudulent activities
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
- Abuse AI features by attempting to generate harmful, illegal, or unethical content
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy.
8. Service Modifications and Termination
8.1 Service Changes
We may modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service. For material changes that negatively affect your use, we will provide reasonable advance notice.
8.2 Termination by You
You may cancel your subscription and close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon cancellation:
- Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period
- You may export your data before account closure
- We aim to delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law, needed for security or fraud prevention, or necessary for limited backup and recovery processes
8.3 Termination by PAPERSFLOW SAS
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. For minor violations, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue. For severe violations (fraud, abuse, illegal activity), we may terminate immediately.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy of AI-generated content
Note for EU Consumers: This disclaimer does not affect your statutory rights under EU consumer protection laws, which cannot be excluded by contract.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PAPERSFLOW SAS shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of data, profits, revenue, or business opportunities
- Damages arising from reliance on AI-generated content
- Damages exceeding the amount you paid to PAPERSFLOW SAS in the 12 months preceding the claim
Note for EU Consumers: This limitation does not apply to liability arising from our gross negligence, willful misconduct, or matters that cannot be limited under applicable EU law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold PAPERSFLOW SAS harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to claims arising solely from our breach of these Terms.
12. Copyright and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on our Service infringes your copyright, please contact us at developer@papersflow.ai with:
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- Identification of the allegedly infringing content
- Your contact information
- A statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate
We comply with both the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the EU Copyright Directive.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.2 Jurisdiction
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France.
13.3 Consumer Complaints
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may have the right to use out-of-court consumer dispute resolution mechanisms available in your country of residence. You may also contact your local consumer authority for guidance. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply in your country of residence.
13.4 Privacy Complaints
If you believe we have processed your personal data unlawfully, you may contact us first at developer@papersflow.ai. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL or with the data protection authority in your country of residence.
14. General Provisions
14.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and PapersFlow regarding the Service.
14.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
14.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
14.4 Assignment
You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights to an affiliate or successor.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
